I used to be quite a prolific website-maker and was forever building new sites or refreshing existing ones. I’ve wanted to make this site for ages but with so much going on, I’ve struggled to find the time. After an astonishing four months I’ve finally finished, and here it is!

I have freelanced via – and named myself – Webknit since university and it’s a brand/creation I’m really proud of. I have always kept all my sites separate and portrayed Webknit as some kind of agency, when in reality it’s just little old me. This set-up began to feel fragmented and I decided to consolidate everything into one site (blog, photos, freelance) which will be, well me.

I’ve also gave the logo a refresh, adding some colour to inject a bit more life into it. You can see before and after images below. If you’re interested in the story behind the logo you can read that here.

This transition comes with one main drawback…. I think I need to tone my blogs posts, as many we’re drunken or ranty ones that probably won’t win me many clients! Because of this I’ve started a completely fresh blog, however if you’re looking for a post from my old blog you can find that here.

The same applies for my photo website Capture, this still exists here but will no longer be updated as I’ve a new photo section on this site!

But the pros far outweigh the cons.

  • Update everything in one location
  • Showcases all my work in one spot
  • It feels a lot more personal, people get to see the real me
  • Makes me feel more comfortable not trying to deceive people

The site was built on WordPress, it uses Azo Sans fonts which are supplied by Typekit. Inspiration for this site came from many sources, you can find some of them here.

As with everything I do in life it’s a work in progress, so if you spot any bugs, or can think of any improvements then please do let me know!

Thanks for reading!

Shane
